Daddy Dialogue: But she can hear though!

What do you mean my child can't hear? How do you know? What exactly does that mean? These looming questions circled in my mind from day 1 to 3 of failed hearing tests for our daughter. Not to mention the next year where we constantly tested her hearing in our very own make shift ways. I didnt know anyone with hearing impairment so it immediately became a space I wasnt immediately welcoming.

No one could convince me that Maddie couldn't hear. Even when her diagnosis was updated to minimal hearing loss I remained in denial. But she can hear me though is a statement that I have employed multiple times and even recite in my head now from time to time. I guess this means I am in progress and I am ok with that. I am willing to learn and support my baby as best I can even if I don't understand the full ins and outs.
